Welcome to this Integrated Informatics Project, an advanced assignment required of students in Jeff Newman's upper level Cell Biology (Bio435), Molecular Biology (Bio 437) and Biochemistry (Bio444, Chem444) courses taught during the 1999-2001 academic years.

To fully appreciate this work, you will need several pieces of software installed on your computer.  These can be obtained by clicking on the appropriate links or buttons below.

The Adobe Acrobat Viewer plugin is required to view several of the files that are in .pdf format.

The protein structure analysis requires the plugin Chime. Chime is a web browser plugin based on the program Rasmol that allows one to view and manipulate 3-D protein structures. While Chime alone works fine with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 5, some of the javascript commands that are frequently used to tell Chime how to display the molecule do not work correctly with Microsoft's browser. Therefore, Netscape Navigator/Communicator is the preferred browser for viewing the Chime-based interactive tutorials.
